There are obvious, even significant differences between Obama and someone like Mitt Romney, particularly on social issues, but no matter how Obama markets himself this time around, a choice between these two will not in any way represent a choice between “change” and the status quo. This is a choice between two different versions of the status quo, and everyone knows it.

The truth is that Iowa CCI isn’t stabbing the President or the Democratic Party in the back through their criticism of the Grand Bargain. If anything, the President and the Party are stabbing them in the back, even as they continue to do the sort of work that helps get Democrats elected—even if that work doesn’t necessarily come in the form of phonebanking or door-to-door canvassing.

The jokes got worse and worse. Obama’s response to the jobs crisis was “let them eat cake — excuse me, let them eat organic cake.” It’s funny, because liberals enjoy eating food that was grown without the use of synthetic pesticides.
